Mrs. Baker | Fifth Grade
Our fifth grader teacher, Mrs. Baker, is in her 18th year teaching school, her 12th teaching fifth grade, and her 7th year with LIGHTHOUSE. She teaches with a project oriented style because that is "how I was taught to teach." She taught in the Lake Stevens School District for many years when she read about the new cooperative program opening in the Everett School District.
"I knew right away that I not only wanted to teach in the program, but I also wanted to put my own kids into the program. The cooperative makes school more of a family responsibility instead of a place to send your kids. I take my responsibility as a parent and a teacher very seriously, so the cooperative coincides with my beliefs."
She enjoys teaching in LIGHTHOUSE Elementary Cooperative. Every year is different because she is able to incorporate the talents of the different parents. The advantages for the students and the resources for the teachers are endless.
She earned her degree in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University
She includes in her biography: "hobbies: reading to my kids, cooking, building train models, calligraphy, playing the violin, vacuuming, painting (rooms, not pictures), favorite subject to teach: United States History (social studies)"
